SUNSET PARK, NY — Family Health Centers at NYU Langone will host its annual Back-to-School event Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Sunset Park, providing local families with free backpacks, school supplies and access to community resources ahead of the new school year.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Martin Luther Playground, at Second Avenue and 55th Street.
Supported by Healthfirst and JPMorgan Chase, the resource fair will include health screenings, informational sessions, demonstrations, children's entertainment and an activity area for adults.
With New York City public schools set to open Sept. 10, the event aims to help ease the financial burden of school supply costs for families in Sunset Park and surrounding neighborhoods.
Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is one of New York's largest Federally Qualified Health Center networks, providing health care and community services to Brooklyn residents while working to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities.
