Body Found In New York Bay In Sunset Park: Cops

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Police have opened an investigation into a dead body that was found in the New York Bay in Sunset Park on Wednesday morning.

The body of a man appearing to be in his 40s, who police said was dead on their arrival, was found in the bay off of Brooklyn Army Terminal around 11:15 a.m., police said.

The NYPD's harbor unit and fire officials helped get the body out of the water. The man's body was decomposed and found near 58th Street, police said.

It was not clear how the body got into the water.

The New York City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation remains ongoing.
