Cab Driver Robbed At Knife Point Near Sunset Park: Cops

A man posed as a customer, but when they got to his destination, he put a knife to the cab driver's neck.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man who robbed a cab driver at knife point after he gave him a ride near Sunset Park.

The suspect posed as a customer near 976 3rd Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. last Tuesday and asked the 66-year-old cab driver to take him to 47th Street and 5th Avenue, police said.

But when the two arrived at the destination, the suspect took out a knife and put it to the driver's neck. Threatening to stab the driver if he moved, the man took his cell phone, about $2,700 in cash and the keys to the cab before running away down 47th Street.

The cab driver was treated by emergency responders for lacerations to his neck, police said.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man, about 40 to 50 years old, 5'8" to 5'10" and last seen wearing a dark colored knitted cap, a dark colored jacket, blue jeans and white sneakers.
