FedEx Driver Hits Mourner With Truck, Pulls Out Knife At Funeral

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN -- Police said they are still gathering details about a brawl that broke out between funeral-goers and FedEx workers Monday afternoon. The driver reportedly hit a mourner with his truck and then took out a knife when the crowd confronted him, the Daily News reports.

The FedEx truck struck the mourner outside Beith El-Maqdis Islamic Center of Bay Ridge at 63rd St. and Sixth Ave. around 12:40 p.m. The driver then pulled out his knife when the crowd approached him and his partner, the report said.

He slashed an angry mourner in the hand and his partner struck a funeral-goer with a fire extinguisher.

Both FedEx employees were arrested along with one of the mourners who assaulted one of the workers. Two of the mourners and a FedEx worker were sent to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn with minor injuries, the Daily News reported.

Police officials said around 4 p.m. that they were still gathering details about the incident. This article will be updated when more information becomes available.
