The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sunset Park.

Good morning, Sunset Park! Let's get you started this Thursday with everything you need to know going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 48 Low: 46.

Here are the top stories in Sunset Park today:

  1. For the first time in three months, NBA player Kyrie Irving practiced with the Nets at their Sunset Park facility as he prepares for his part-time return. Irving has missed Brooklyn's first 32 games of the season for refusing to comply with a New York City COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The basketball star remains unvaccinated and, as a result, is only eligible to play in 22 of the Nets' remaining regular-season road games. (The Athletic)
  2. A senior food critic at Eater NY has praised South Brooklyn for its dining scene, naming it the neighborhood he was most excited to dine in in 2021. Robert Sietsema specifically mentioned the delicious pastrami and ramen at Industry City and Chinese dumplings in Sunset Park. (Eater NY)
  3. CityMD is temporarily closing more of its COVID-19 testing locations throughout New York City as cases continue to surge. As of Dec. 29, CityMD Bay Ridge has been shut down, with patients redirected to CityMD Sunset Park at 5024 5th Ave. Local residents visiting this location for urgent care may experience longer wait times as the facility accommodates overflow from the closed Bay Ridge location.
