Person Killed On Sunset Park's 3rd Ave Is Second This Month
The hit-and-run that killed a 27-year-old is the second pedestrian death on the avenue in the last few weeks.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian on 3rd Avenue this week, the second fatal accident on the busy street this year.
Just after midnight on Monday, police said they responded to a 911 call that a pedestrian had been struck by a car at the intersection of 52nd Street and 3rd Avenue. When they arrived, 27-year-old Fernando Trejo was lying in the road with severe injuries to his body.
Trejo was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he died the next day.

Investigators later determined that Trejo had been hit by an unknown car that fled the scene. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
Trejo, who lived just a block from where he was hit, is the second person to be killed on the busy avenue in the last few weeks.

On New Year's Day, 26-year-old Hugo Garcia died after he was riding his bicycle to work several blocks away. Garcia hit the open door of a parked taxi cab near 28th Street and was thrown into the roadway, where he was hit by another car.
Garcia also lived just a block away from where he was hit.
