2 Elementary Schools in Mineola, East Williston Rank Among State's Best

Niche.com has released its 2016 rankings of public elementary schools across the country, with 40 Long Island schools making the list of the top 100 in New York.

Two nearby elementary schools made the list. Here’s how they placed:

• North Side School in the East Williston School District— No. 66
• Meadow Drive School in the Mineola School District (located in Albertson)— No. 70

A high ranking, according to Niche, indicates that a school “is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students and faculty, and the students are very happy with their experiences.”

Most of the Long Island elementary schools (34 of the 40) that ranked in the top 100 in the state are in Nassau County. The top three schools in the state are all in the Jericho School District.

The top ranked public high school in the country is Glenwood Elementary School in Short Hills, N.J.
