30 Long Island High Schools Among State's Best: Niche

Niche.com has released its list of the best public high schools in the nation and New York for 2018.

The top school in the country: Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago. In New York: Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.

A total of 30 Long Island schools made the top 100 list for New York, with Great Neck South High School and Jericho High School coming in among the top 10. Last year, 35 Long Island schools were in the top 100.

Here's are the top 10 public high schools in New York, according to Niche:

1. Stuyvesant High School
2. Staten Island Technical High School
3. Bronx High School of Science
4. Great Neck South High School
5. Townsend Harris High School
6. Jericho Senior High School
7. Scarsdale High School
8. Rye High School
9. High School Math Science and Engineering at the City College of New York
10. Pittsford-Mendon High School
