Getting Clean is not just about food.
Having read Clean, by Dr. Alejandro Junger, in its entirety, I am frightened by the amount of toxins I have allowed to enter my body through my skin and scalp. I cannot control all of my environment, but there are easy things I can change that will make a big difference.hair_hazardous-poison
First, I stopped coloring my hair. As a feminist, I always swore I would age gracefully and not buy into society's requirement that I look young, especially my hair. Yet, when the time came, my friends and family convinced me that it was absolutely necessary for my future success and happiness.hair_dye_poison
I felt the sting of the chemicals on my scalp with every process. I hated it, and knew it had to bad for me. It is. I will no longer bathe my scalp in toxic chemicals to gain society's (or my friends') approval.
I am going gray, and proud of it.
