Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano (center) presented a citation to Morris Moinian (left), owner of The Garden City Hotel and the President of Fortuna Realty Group, and Grady Colin, the General Manager of The Garden City Hotel (right) in commemoration of The Garden City Hotel’s 140th anniversary, which will be celebrated on July 30th.

The Garden City Hotel which opened in 1874 is the largest and most exclusive hotel on Long Island and remains a Long Island landmark, synonymous with first-class service and timeless luxury and a source of pride to all Long Islanders. It was built to be the focal point of a planned community designed by Alexander Turney Stewart as he sought to attract the world’s elite when he founded Garden City in 1869. The Hotel was designed by the legendary architect Stanford White and gained prominence as one of the nation’s elite hotels. The Hotel became the preferred destination of the most prominent American families including the Vanderbilts, the Pierpont Morgans, the Astors and the Kennedys.
