Braves Take Care of Business Against Clarke
Led by the second and third units of the team, the Braves took care of business and beat Clarke 18-1
John Calabria has always spoken about the importance of a strong non league schedule. The Braves head coach was true to his word with scheduling games against Garden City, Southside, and Manhasset to open the 2013 campaign.
For the first time this season the Braves played a team that were heavily favored against and it took all of two minutes into the game to see why.
Sophomore Matt Raffa scored back to back goals to open the game and the Braves would never trail as Syosset coasted to a 18-1 thrashing over the Clarke Rams.

Syosset led 11-0 after the first quarter and was clicking on all cylinders. Goal tender Ryan Feit did not come in contact with a single shot in his one quarter of service.
Credit should be given to Clarke for wanting to take the challenge of facing an elite program like Syosset however, Clarke was physically outplayed from start to finish and struggled to maintain possession for any extended period of time.

“For Clarke to step up and want to play a team like us is a testament to them,” Calabria said. “There kids never quit and they played hard for four quarters.”
Calabria spoke about how he thought his second and third units were able to seize the opportunity to see the field and perform for the team. “I think as a group our kids did a good job,” Calabria said. “They have not had a lot of opportunities because of our difficult non league schedule and I think as a group I was pleased with their performance.”
One of the players on the second unit, sophomore attack Jack Parlo, credited the coaching staff for having the team prepared to play.
“We really went after it today,” Parlo said. “We never want to come out flat and that is something we work on in practice. We have a great coaching staff and a lot of depth on this roster so we are always going to be ready to go.”
Syosset continues its difficult non league stretch with a matchup at home against Northport on Saturday.
Senior attack Corey Yoskowitz is excited to see how his team will play. “We feel that we can compete with anyone,” Yoskowitz said. “Northport is a great program and we respect the type of team they have. We are going to give it all we have and try to get another win.”
