John Moore - Follow up to "Know Your Candidate"

Thanks to all of you that took the time to listen to what all of the candidates had to say Thursday night.  When voting, please consider carefully who you believe will best serve the interests of this community and remember to choose three of the five candidates.

As discussed at the “Know Your Candidate” forum, the green/sustainability movement is an item which is close to my heart.   Without rambling on I would like to reiterate three points:

1. We are fortunate to live in a district that has been managed with the utmost financial responsibility. We, therefore, have the means to introduce sustainable design and operations into our buildings.
2. The reality is that, today, being “green” is more a fashion statement than a
   lifestyle.  I believe that by using the social responsibility aspect of sustainability in our curriculum, we can plant the seeds of change within the culture of our schools, and our larger community.
3. Global urbanization and the pressure that this phenomenon is putting on non-renewable resources will drive the future economy.  As a top academic district, we are training the future leaders of our society and I believe that we have an obligation to prepare our students to face these challenges.
