Morris Looks to Lead Braves to Playoffs

Led by Joe Morris the 2012 Braves look to make a run at the County Championship.

If you would have asked Joe Morris 8 months ago if he would be putting the pads on for the Syosset Braves in 2012 for his senior season his answer would be a giant question mark.

“I would always have to tell people I am not sure when they asked if I would ever play again,” Morris said. “It honestly would all come down to how good my knee felt heading into training camp.”

After tearing his ACL last September in week 2 of the season against Freeport, Morris was unsure if he would would ever play football again. However, he vowed to do everything in his power to ensure he would play again. “The physical therapy was tough at times but it was just something I had to do,” Morris said. “I knew it was going to be a long road back but I just kept telling myself I needed to keep working harder every day and I can come back from this.”

Morris credits his family and friends in helping him recover. “My family and friends were huge in the whole recovery process,” Morris said. “They were all so supportive and made it an easy decision to work hard to come back from my injury.”

Now fully healthy and headed into his senior season Morris is ready to show what kind of player he can be for the Braves as the featured back on the offense and the starting safety on defense.

“It means a lot to me to get back onto the field for my senior year and show everyone what kind of football player I am.”

After a 2011 season that ended with the Braves out of the playoffs Morris looks to lead the 2012 Braves back into the playoffs.

“Now that I am back it is time to go and get after it,” Morris said. “We need to start getting ready for a season that hopefully ends with us playing for a county championship.”
