Documenting Diversity with Catherine Litvaitis '13
Our Lady of Mercy Academy's Catherine Litvaitis was one of 10 students from Long Island and New York City high schools who was chosen and participated in Hofstra's Documenting Diversity program last summer. Documenting Diversity brings together students from diverse social and ethnic backgrounds and encourages them to use the medium of film to express their points of view about the similarities and differences that comprise their experiences as emerging adults.
For the program, Litvaitis was paired up with Maudeline Clerevoix, a native of Haiti, to make a documentary under the guidance of the university’s award-winning television and film faculty and student mentors. Catherine and Maudeline shared their documentaries with OLMA students at Mercy during theology classes and followed the viewing with a Q&A about their experiences making the films.
