Nassau Construction Worker Crushed To Death When Roofing Collapsed: Police
It took more than six hours to remove the victim from the rubble.
WOODBURY, NY — A construction worker was killed Thursday morning when roofing collapsed as he was working on site.
The 49-year-old male victim was on scaffolding 30 feet off the ground as he erected a roof for a new building at the Jericho Water District Facility in Woodbury, police said.
As the roofing structure collapsed at the Stillwell Lane location, two construction workers were injured. A 24-year-old man was treated and released from a hospital for facial lacerations.

The 49-year-old, from Roosevelt, was crushed against the building's concrete wall. It took more than six hours for the police Emergency Services Unit, Syosset Fire Department and crane operators to extricate the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Homicide Squad is investigating in conjunction with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
