5 People Rescued, Firefighter Suffers Heat Exhaustion After Blaze Rips Through Jericho Home: Officials

A raging house fire in Jericho left 5 adults displaced, fire marshals say.

JERICHO, NY — A firefighter suffered heat exhaustion, and five people have been displaced after a house fire in Jericho on Sunday night, fire marshals said.

Jericho Fire Department responded to a 2-story house on Flint Lane at 10:10 p.m., Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes with about 50 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for heat exhaustion, fire marshals said.

Mutual aid assistance was provided by Syosset, Hicksville, Bethpage, Westbury, Glenwood, and Plainview fire departments, fire marshals said.

NCFM and the Police Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire, fire marshals said.
