Syosset, NY/Jericho, NY; February 14, 2017 – Susana Sawhney of Jericho, NY is the newest licensed salesperson to join Homes By Mara Realty of Syosset, NY. Just before coming to Homes By Mara, Sawhney was a student at Hofstra University attending a real estate sales course while in between working as an assistant at the private NY-based commercial real estate business, 27 Cliff Street Realty, in Manhattan, NY.

“After assisting in commercial real estate, I decided I wanted to begin working in residential,” explained Sawhney, “I interviewed with many residential real estate agencies; however it was my meeting with Homes By Mara Realty President Mara Navaretta that led me to realize that Homes By Mara was the perfect fit. Sawhney’s prior work experience includes working in fashion as a sales representative at Chico’s FAS in Woodbury, NY. She was also a graphic artist at Alpina Color Graphics, Inc., and at Alpina Copyword, Inc., both in Manhattan NY, as well as at MTM Printing in College Point, NY. Additionally, she was a marketing strategies assistant at Motor-Motion Inc. in Little Neck, NY.

Sawhney, who has a Bachelor of Advertisement from Universidad Catolica de Manizales in Colombia, grew up in Colombia before coming to the United State in 1992 to learn English and computers, at which time she lived in Commack, NY. She eventually got married and moved to Queens before settling her roots in Jericho, NY, where has resided for the last 16 years. She went on sabbatical from work for several years to raise her two children, Ericka, who graduated from Syosset High School last year, and Neil, who currently attends Syosset High School, running a busy household and ensuring her children did well socially and academically.

Sawhney says her vast work experience allowed her to hone her customer service skills, understanding and appreciation and is a great benefit to her new focus in real estate. “Whether I was working in sales at Chico’s or working on behalf of my clients as a graphic artist, I learned quickly the importance of effectively communicating with customers and adhering to their needs,” she explains. “As a former graphic artist, I have a keen sense in being able to envision a home’s potential when representing today’s home buyers while my strong advertising background provides me with a knack for knowing how to market and sell by being creative and thinking outside of the box for effectively representing today’s home sellers.”

Beyond serving Long Island’s residential home buyers and sellers, Sawhney is capitalizing on her Colombian heritage along with bilingualism in Spanish and English in her new role at Homes By Mara to ease potential language barriers that could exist among Long Island’s Spanish community that may otherwise prevent them from receiving real estate services.
