Woodbury, NY… Last month, as COVID-19 began making itself felt across Long Island, SterlingRisk Insurance did what it does best — stepped up to help out.

“We took a hard look at all the unsung heroes in healthcare and related fields making sacrifices to protect others,” remarked David Sterling, CEO of the Woodbury, NY-based insurance brokerage. “We had a number of SterlingRisk associates with loved ones in nursing homes and senior living communities. They each spoke about the exceptional work being done by staff members to keep seniors safe, comfortable, and comforted during the COVID-19 pandemic. We came up with a ‘Lunch is on us!’ campaign to bring welcome relief to their busy schedules. It continues to grow each week. The outpouring of support and thanks from everyone involved has been tremendous.”
Under the direction of SterlingRisk Programs President Geraldine DelPrete, SterlingRisk team members have been coordinating with administrators at assisted living facilities and nursing homes to determine best times for staff lunch drop-offs and which nearby restaurants to call for deliveries.

“Taking care of the details is becoming a full-time job,” DelPrete observed, “but worth every second. The men and women caring for our Long Island seniors are so appreciative of ours efforts. Those hot pizzas arrive and they’re all smiles — under their protective masks, of course.”
According to DelPrete, mobilizing and making a difference is what SterlingRisk is all about. “Our insurance programs provide peace of mind to so many industries that are now impacted by COVID-19, including healthcare workers and restaurant owners. We wanted to do more. This program is our way of thanking them and letting them know we’re wishing them all the best at this difficult time.”
A partial list of senior facilities that have recently received catered staff lunches from SterlingRisk includes: Sunharbor Manor, Roslyn, NY; St Johnland Nursing Center, Kings Park, NY; St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center, Smithtown, NY. Jefferson’s Ferry’s Vincent Bove Health Center, South Setauket, NY; Atria Plainview, Plainview, NY; Parkview Care Center, Massapequa, NY; and A. Holly Patterson, Uniondale, NY.
SterlingRisk has a long history of promoting positive values, encouraging volunteerism, and supporting those in need, including raising over $63,000 for the American Heart Association in recent years.
