Press Release From Syosset High School: Syosset High School’s DECA club had a record-breaking performance at the State Career Conference in February bringing home a total of 163 medals with 67 members finishing in the Top 10. Students also earned 51 international qualifier positions, the most of any school in New York State and will be sending 56 team members to the International Career Development Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, this April, where the members hope to continue their incredible success.
Students Josh Baby, Ronit Dhulia and Harrison Goldberg, Tiffany Liu and Natalie Iammarino, Blake Sanford and Seth Marcus, Siddharth Desai and Nathan Han, Benjamin Cheung, Ethan Chiu and Alex He, Simran Goel and Meghan IngShing, David Wang, and Kenny Lieberman, Imran Gangat and Vatsal Kalola finished first in their competitive events. Additionally, Derek Halpern is the first member in Syosset DECA history to be elected to the New York State DECA Executive Board, where he will serve as the Executive Vice President for the 2020-21 academic year.
DECA is a student cenetered organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in high school and college for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. Students compete in regional challenges throughout the year leading up to the State conference. The team is very grateful to adviser Glenn Baumann and the many other chaperones who organized the trip and ensured that it went smoothly, as well as DECA President Joshua Baby and the rest of the executive officer team.
