Police Identify Syosset Man Fatally Struck By LIRR Train: MTA

SYOSSET, NY — Police identified the man fatally struck by a Long Island Railroad train Thursday morning, the MTA announced Thursday afternoon.

According to the MTA, the man was struck by Penn Station-bound train 619 at 8:19 a.m. Thursday, with the collision happening at the Robbins Lane Crossing, west of Syosset Station. The train originated from Port Jefferson, the MTA said.

The MTA said an investigation including witness accounts revealed no criminality, with no additional injuries to passengers or train crew reported.

As for the man, police said he was pronounced dead on arrival by an NCPD medic four minutes after being hit, at 8:23 a.m.

While service was suspended in the aftermath of the incident, the MTA said service resumed at about 9:49 a.m.
