Police: Motorcyclist, 19, Drives Recklessly, Injures Officer While Resisting Arrest

Family members videotaped the incident and tried to help the 19-year-old resist arrest in Hicksville on Wednesday, police said.

Police arrested a 19-year-old motorcyclist after he drove recklessly, resisted arrest and injured a police officer while his family members videotaped the incident in Hicksville early Wednesday, police said.

According to authorities, officers saw Helal Mohmand, 19, commit several New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law violations while he was riding a black 2007 Honda motorcycle eastbound on West John Street at 1:10 a.m.

Officers attempted to pull the motorcycle over when Mohmand pulled into his driveway on Hicks Circle, police said. Officers then told Mohmand he was under arrest and that caused him to push arresting officers into a parked car behind them, police said.
