Police: Syosset Woman Drove Drunk, On Drugs With 2 Daughters in Car

Oxycodone and Carisoprodol pills were recovered from the woman's bag Tuesday night, police said.

A Syosset woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs while her two children were in the car Tuesday night, police said.

Nassau County Police responded to a report of a driver in a 2000 Acura operating erratically near 1085 Old Country Road in Westbury at 10:40 p.m.

Officers said they located the vehicle in front of the Dollar Store, located at 1057 Old Country Road, and identified the driver as Laura Cachell, 32, and placed her under arrest for being in an intoxicated state, police said.

Cachell’s two daughters, ages 8 and 9, were inside the vehicle at the time of the arrest.

Authorities recovered several pills, including Oxycodone and Carisoprodol, from her bag following the arrest.

Cachell is charged with two counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), three counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, driving while ability impaired/ combined influence (alcohol and drugs), driving while ability impaired (drugs), driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired.

She will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
