Syosset Celebrates Commended Students
38 Syosset students named to the National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students list.

Submitted by Syosset Public Schools
In addition to the 18 Syosset High School students named semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP), the organization has named 38 Syosset students to the NMSP “Commended Students” list.
Although not eligible for a scholarship opportunity when the winners are announced this spring, the 38 students named scored in the top five percentile on the PSAT qualifying test, an exam taken this year by more than 1.5 million students across the nation.

“We are very proud of our students’ achievements and wish them continued success in their futures,” said Syosset High School Principal Dr. Giovanni Durante. “That’s an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to the advanced level of academic excellence we strive for here at Syosset.”
“These 38 students truly deserve this recognition,” said Dr. Thomas Rogers, the Syosset School District superintendent. “Through their hard work, they have made the most of both the excellent opportunities the district makes available and the dedication our faculty invests in them.”
Each of the 38 students named will receive a Letter of Commendation from the NMSP with a congratulatory message on the reverse side. The National Merit Scholarship Program is managed by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.
