"We encourage you to take a moment to engage your child in conversation at this time, especially if it is the first time they have experienced loss. Grieving is a process that affects everyone in different ways and it is so very important to talk through this as a family," Rogers said in a statement. "Your child will have feelings they need to express. The best support is to simply listen and give them the time and space they need to gain perspective. We are grateful that our students have close relationships with their guidance counselors and teachers, and we will be available to assist and guide you and your children."
