The two schools ranked among the top 10 public middle schools in the state.

Both middle schools in the Syosset School District made Niche.com's 2018 list of the top 100 schools in New York.
The two schools ranked among the top 10 with H.B. Thompson Middle School coming in at No. 4 and South Woods Middle School coming in at No. 7.
Both were among a total of 29 Long Island schools to make the list. Great Neck South Middle School took the No. 1 spot.

The rankings and review website sorted the 19,710 middle schools nationwide based on key student statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.
A high ranking, according to Niche, indicates that a school “is an exceptional academic institution with a diverse set of high-achieving students and faculty, and the students are very happy with their experiences.”
