Syosset Students Learn What to Do in an Emergency

The Red Cross instructed students on the "Pillowcase Project" procedure.

Fourth-graders at Robbins Lane Elementary School recently participated in an emergency education program about personal and family preparedness, local hazards and basic coping skills.

Provided by the American Red Cross, the “Pillowcase Project” led students through a “learn, practice, share” framework to engage them in disaster preparedness to be ready in case of a fire, hurricane or other major disturbance that could result in catastrophe.

Every student received a sturdy pillowcase upon completion of the program, which they personalized and brought home to build their own emergency supply kit.
