Syosset Students Put Leftover Candy to Good Use

Operation Sweet Tooth is a Village Elementary School tradition.

Students at Village Elementary School brought in leftover, unopened Halloween candy to donate to various charities in part of the school’s annual Operation Sweet Tooth.

Third and fourth grade students and parents sorted, packaged and redistributed the candy out to organizations including: Angela’s House, AHRC, Jacob’s Light Foundation for Troops, Mercy First, the Ronald McDonald House and the Smiles for Scott Foundation.

Operation Sweet Tooth started several years ago by Village Elementary parent Mary Majoy and Principal Jeffrey Kasper.

Teachers also incorporated math activities such as counting, grouping and graphing into the effort. Students in Wendy Tepper’s third-grade class are pictured above.
