They also met with their local representative, Congressman Steve Israel, who answered several questions about government.
More than 230 eighth graders from Harry B. Thompson Middle School in Syosset visited Washington D.C. this fall. Students toured the FDR Memorial, the Washington Monument, the White House and several Smithsonian museums.
They also met with their local representative, Congressman Steve Israel, who answered several questions about government. The Q & A came shortly after a vote on the swearing-in of a new Speaker of the House. Students returned from their Washington experience with a more informed perspective about U.S. government.
