Syosset Summer Music Students Perform Popular Hollywood Music
You may have recognized music from "The Sound of Music," "Star Wars," "Jurassic Park," and "Shrek 2."
Syosset students at the district’s summer music academy rehearsed for six weeks before performing the musical scores of some of Hollywood’s biggest box office hits at a concert on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The orchestra, under the direction of teacher Amy Rostholder, played “Edelweiss,” from the musical “The Sound of Music,” as well as Darth Vader’s entrance score “The Imperial March” from the “Star Wars” films.
The band, directed by teacher Jeffrey Biener, opened with the theme song to blockbuster film “Jurassic Park,” and closed out their performance with Ricky Martin’s “Livin La Vida Loca,” which was featured prominently in the children’s film “Shrek 2.”
