Syosset Then and Now: Identify This Building

Can you figure out what this building was and what stands there today?

The bustling little Long Island town of Syosset has had many facelifts over the years. Original structures have been remodeled and replaced, leaving just a shadow of the good old days of horse-drawn carriages and general stores.

But if you look closely, sometimes you can see old Syosset hidden among the new constructions. We'll be bringing you back to the old Syosset with the help of Syosset Scrapbook and helpful photo donors.

Last week, we asked readers . Patch reader correctly identified it first as the current restaurant on Jackson Avenue. Reader added that it had also been called the Upper Deck. A Syosset legend, according to reader , says that "either the second wife or a daughter of legendary slugger Babe Ruth once threw a party at the Carnival Room."

Congrats to RR for being the first to identify the spot and thanks to Papa Tom and Linda L. Manning-Koziatek for the extra information!

This week's assignment is to tell us what the pictured building is. Since that might be a little too easy for some readers, we'd also like to know where it was located and what sits there today. Special thanks to Linda Manning-Koziatek for finding the photo!
