Voter's Guide: Syosset School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for election day.

Syosset residents will vote on the school district’s $219,860,188 proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 17.

The proposal calls for a $4,274,736 increase in spending over the current year and a .14 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap.

Three candidates are running for three open seats on the Syosset Board of Education. Voters can choose three candidates with three write-in options on the ballot. Candidates include:

  • Rob Gershon
  • Tracy Frankel
  • Susan Parker

Residents can vote at three voting sites:

  • Robbins Lane Elementary School gymnasium— for those who live in the jurisdictions of Robbins Lane and South Grove Elementary Schools.
  • H.B. Thompson Middle School main gymnasium— for those who live in the jurisdictions of A.P. Willits and Baylis Schools.
  • Syosset High School auxiliary gymnasium— for those who live in the jurisdictions of Walt Whitman, Berry Hill and Village Schools.
