Veo riders, neighbors weigh access and safety as Syracuse considers bike-share future (cnycentral.com) — Syracuse officials are weighing the future of the city's Veo bike-share program as its contract expires in January, balancing riders' need for affordable transportation with neighbors' complaints about safety and sidewalk clutter. The city plans to seek proposals from other companies while Veo pitches new age-verification technology to curb underage riding. Residents, councilors and riders all want any next contract to protect access while tightening safety.
3. Syracuse Athletics hires Chris Presson as Deputy AD, Chief Commercial Officer (cnycentral.com) — Syracuse University Athletics is adding a new Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Commercial Officer, hiring veteran sports executive Chris Presson to grow revenue and the Syracuse brand. He'll oversee sponsorships, ticketing, premium seating, licensing, merchandising and venue commercialization. Leaders say the move responds to financial pressures reshaping college sports and mirrors similar positions at other major programs.
4. Anonymous TikToker 'Syracuse Greg' films SU's beauty to Taylor Swift score (dailyorange.com) — An anonymous TikTok creator known as "Syracuse Greg" is quietly filming moody, Taylor Swift–scored videos of Syracuse University landmarks, drawing thousands of views and plenty of campus speculation. Students say the account showcases SU's beauty in a way typical college-search content doesn't, and some even use it to imagine campus life before enrolling. The creator plans to stay anonymous while continuing the project.
5. 'Rich Harrington: Fissure' exhibit addresses pop culture's societal impacts (dailyorange.com) — A new exhibit at Syracuse's Everson Museum of Art, "Rich Harrington: Fissure," invites local visitors to explore how pop culture shapes ideas about gender, family, and identity through immersive, autobiographical installations. The Syracuse University alum's work, part of the CNY Artist Initiative, runs through Oct. 25 and highlights the importance of supporting diverse Central New York artists.
