3. Man facing attempted murder charges for shooting Syracuse police ruled competent for trial (cnycentral.com) — A man accused of shooting Syracuse police officers and a Syracuse University public safety member during a May standoff at Tyler Court has been ruled competent to stand trial. He remains jailed without bail at the Onondaga County Justice Center while facing 22 attempted murder counts, after three officers were injured but quickly released from Upstate University Hospital.
4. 5. Onondaga County Democratic Committee elects Czarny and young slate of officers (syracuse.com) — Democratic politics in and around Syracuse are shifting after the Onondaga County Democratic Committee re-elected Elections Commissioner Dustin Czarny and chose 27-year-old Josh Ludden as its new chair. With several Syracuse-area leaders in the mix, the party is grappling with internal tensions, pay disputes, and efforts to reconnect with younger, more diverse voters ahead of November's elections.
