Syracuse Mayor Walsh Issues #TakeCareChallenge

With the newest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommending Americans wear cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19, Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh issued the #TakeCareChallenge this week. Mayor Walsh took to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to urge Syracusans to follow the CDC advice.

Sporting a cloth face mask made by CNY Uniforms Plus featuring the Syracuse skyline, he asked people to share a selfie in social media showing off their own “face mask style” and then nominate three friends to do the same thing using the hashtag, #TakeCareChallenge.

“Face masks are the ‘now normal.’ Let’s see who is leading by example,” the Mayor posted. His nominees were Stephanie Crockett, executive vice president of Mower; Pastor Daren Jaime of People’s AME Zion Church; and Maria Maldonado-Lewis, host of “I Know I Can Radio” and constituent services advocate for the City of Syracuse.

The CDC also offers advice on how to wear and make a cloth face covering.
