Food Receiving and Unloading Volunteers

Subscribe

Help the Salvation Army in Spring Valley to unload incoming food deliveries that fuel its feeding programs. Volunteers will unload and sort incoming food deliveries, assist with organizing items, and work alongside a welcoming team of staff and fellow volunteers. No experience is necessary—just a willing spirit and a heart for service. Note: volunteers must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check.
Date: 6/2 and 6/3 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Organization: Salvation Army
Location: Spring Valley

Clean River Project

This citizen science project aims to address the issue of floatable trash, which is one of the three major water quality issues on the Bronx River. Volunteers will wear waders in the river and help count the bottles, cans, straws, and more found in the trash boom. The information collected helps find the sources of this trash and stops it from entering the river in the first place. The project engages volunteers by promoting outreach to local businesses whose products end up in and along the river, and it unites messaging around the harm to local waterways caused by non-biodegradable products. Volunteers will work in most weather, including cold, heat, and light precipitation, so please dress accordingly!
Date: 6/3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Organization: Westchester Parks Foundation
Location: White Plains

Rockwood Ramble 10K

Volunteers are needed to make the Rockwood Ramble 10K—perfect for families and groups—a success! All proceeds from the event go toward carriage road maintenance at Rockefeller State Park Preserve. Volunteer can help direct traffic in the parking lot, check in guests and distribute runners' bibs, cheer runners along the route, and hand out refreshments.
Date: 6/6 from 7-11 a.m.; multiple opportunities
Organization: Friends of Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Location: Sleepy Hollow

This role supports awareness, outreach, and education by creating video content that reflects the strength of survivors, the impact of the organization's work, and the importance of community support—always through a trauma-informed lens. This role is perfect for creatives who want to use their skills for social impact. Volunteers must be 18+.
Date: Flexible schedule
