YONKERS, N.Y. – St. John's Riverside Hospital, in partnership with the New York Blood Center, will host a community blood drive on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Andrus Pavilion, 967 N. Broadway, Yonkers, NY 10701.

The event comes at a critical time as the New York Blood Center has declared an unprecedented second blood emergency this summer. Extreme heat, severe storms, power outages, and ongoing storm recovery efforts have significantly reduced donor turnout, leaving the regional blood supply at critically low levels. Current inventories are at approximately a two-day supply—well below what is needed to support hospitals throughout New York and New Jersey—with Type O-negative blood especially scarce.

Every blood donation helps ensure hospitals have lifesaving blood available for patients’ undergoing surgery, receiving cancer treatments, experiencing traumatic injuries, and facing other medical emergencies.

Appointments are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome as space permits. Donors should bring a valid photo ID, eat a healthy meal, and stay well hydrated before donating.

From August 1-August 31, all presenting donors get a voucher for a free beer, cider, wine, soft drink, or coffee at a participating venue!
