Ardsley students bring smiles to nurses w/skin care donations

Tierney sisters of Ardsley bring hope to nurses with their Pretty Skin Against Covid-19 initiative...a song of hope. Kelly Tierney will be an 11th grader at Ardsley High School in the fall and her sister Claire is going to be a 9th grader. They came up with a very creative idea that has helped bring smiles to many nurses who had bruises on their faces from the N-95 masks that they have been wearing during COVID-19 crisis. This is their story:
Pretty Skin Against Covid-19

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, the Tierney sisters have started a project called “Pretty Skin Against Covid-19”. They started this project when they noticed that their Aunts, who are nurses, have bruises on their faces from the N-95 masks that they are wearing for long shifts at the hospital.

· The nurses are stressed & emotional from the many deaths and seriously ill patients they are caring for due to Covid-19.

· Many don’t have the time to pamper themselves to feel/look pretty because they are constantly in and out of the hospital and are exhausted.

Seeing this, Kelly and Claire knew that they had to do something and give back to all the amazing frontline heroes that are working in the hospitals.

This is when they had the idea of giving each nurse a skincare and perfume product to brighten their day and hopefully remind them that self-care is important.

Since March, they have donated 26,419 skincare & perfume products to 10 local hospitals

Columbia Montefiore Phelps St. Johns Sloan Kettering

Westchester Medical Center Stamford Hospital White Plains Hospital

Blythedale Children’s Hospital Elizabeth Seton Children’s Empress EMT

Also, they have donated to various local charities that are supporting people in need during the pandemic. The charities include

The Tierney sisters have brought hope to many people. Another young man, Samuel Weintraub (an 8 year old child actor who lives in Hartsdale) shared with me his Song of Hope: You'll be Okay by a Great Big World. Please enjoy.
