arrest of Scarsdale High School graduate by ICE highlights need to protect constitution
see link below--other officials should place constitution flag in their offices to protest erosion of democracy
The arrest by ICE of Scarsdale High School graduate Yeonsoo Go is another example of how President Trump is using masked federal law enforcement officials and agencies under his control to erode democracy and violate our constitution. Nationally, elected officials and civic leaders have been arrested or confronted by law enforcement officials while protesting President Trumps immigration policies and for exercising their First Amendment right to free speech. The 4th amendment protections regarding searches, seizures and privacy are also being eroded in situations Yeonsoo Go is experiencing. ICE agents are arresting non criminals like Yeonsoo Go who was in court seeking an extension of her visa.
I expect to attend the rally at Chase Plaza on Thursday and encourage other Westchester officials to join me in placing the Constitution Flag (see below) in their offices ---to remind all elected officials and residents visiting government buildings that the Constitution must be complied with by the President, by all officials. This flag was created by Yonkers resident Bob Pargament. An interview with Bob and the flag can be seen in the you tube video below. I am not the only elected official who is displaying the flag in my office—the flag is also in the Manhattan Borough Presidents office and has been displayed at protests.
