ArtsWestchester Accepting Submissions for City Center Installation
Artists in Tarrytown-Sleepy Hollow are encouraged to submit an application by April 25 for this unique opportunity.

From ArtsWestchester:
ArtsWestchester announces a unique opportunity for Hudson Valley region sculptors, installation artists, and muralists to create a signature work of art for a major White Plains shopping and entertainment destination. The City Center, a Kite Realty property, in White Plains, N.Y., facilitated by its neighbor ArtsWestchester, seeks designs for a suspended sculptural installation in the City Center’s multi-story atrium. A second Request for Proposals is open for a mural on a newly-exposed wall in the renovated Mamaroneck Avenue lobby.
The City Center is a mixed-use retail and entertainment complex located at the heart of downtown White Plains, NY. Situated 35 minutes by Metro-North from midtown Manhattan, White Plains is Westchester County’s government and shopping center, home to some 60,000 residents with upwards of 200,000 daily visitors to the city for work or recreation. The City Center is surrounded by upscale residential developments and restaurants. Nearby are ArtsWestchester, the White Plains City Hall, businesses, and hotels. City Center tenants include: The White Plains Performing Arts Center, Shop Rite, New York Sports Club, Toys “R” Us, Nordstrom Rack, Target, Cinema De Lux, Barnes & Noble, and several restaurants.

The City Center Public Art Project is a key component of an overall renovation initiative that will refresh the City Center’s façade and interior, distinguishing the center as a community gathering space and Westchester destination. The commissioned artworks will activate empty airspace, engage visitors, and provide the site with a contemporary aesthetic.
Artists are encouraged to let their imagination soar. Equal consideration will be given to work in all media including, but not limited to: ceramics, papers, plastics, metals, lighting, and fibers. Artwork may be kinetic and/or interactive, but should take the space usage and dimension requirements into consideration.
