Audition Notice: Actors Sought for "Time Stands Still"

The Armonk Players has issued a casting call for its June production of Pulitzer-Prize winner Donald Margulies' play

The Armonk Players will hold auditions for roles in “Time Stands Still” on Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in Armonk, NY. The ex-Broadway play opens on June 5 , 2015 at the Whippoorwill Hall (North Castle Public Library), 19 Whippoorwill Road East. The auditions will be held at the hall (use the Kent Street entrance). Preregistration to audition is recommended; walk-ins without appointments may be subjected to long waits. The director is Pia Haas.

Parts being cast:

Sarah: Female, 37-44, a war photojournalist, intelligent, dedicated to her profession, conflicted about her relationship with James and their diverging paths in life. She is a strong woman who is bold and adventurous. She gets what she wants by going for it. In her professional world she thrives on conflict, which bleeds into her person life. She tries to maintain a sense of full control over her situation, although recently she has had a trauma that has left her trying to regain her balance. She is not used to being held up at home, so she is easily annoyed.

James: Male, 37-44, much like his longtime partner, Sarah, he has worked in high stress war areas as a reporter. Recently traumatic events have led him to desire a life with less conflict and a desire to settle down. He is a man who is trying to defuse situations and keep things low key. He is tired of the high stress world and wants a “normal” life and a family.

Mandy: Female, 22-26, young, unspoiled, naive, yet wise. Reflects the outsider’s perspective. An event planner. She is far from the intellectual liberal world that the rest of the characters live and she is trying very hard to be accepted into their world. Very optimistic and always looking for the happiness and joy that you can find in life. She empathizes with all the tragedy around the world, but would rather hear an uplifting story. Need an actress who can simultaneously portray the youth and naivete counterbalanced with strength and depth of perception.

Richard: Male, 55, a photo editor, so he functions from the business side of things. He is a former love interest of Sarah and then a mentor to her as she progressed in her career. He is close with both James and Sarah, but has recently started dating a girl who is half his age and far from their liberal intellectual world. He has made it in the caustic, intellectual, and often cut-throat world of publishing and now finds himself attracted to less “heady” pursuits.

Rehearsal dates: From mid-April to early June. (three to four times a week).

Performance Dates: June 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 7 at 4 p.m.
