The greens however ran a bit slow and the players had a tough time adjusting to the speed. Junior Jack Bender once again led the team with a 40 on the par 35 front nine. His playing partner, Jack Schnog, shot a 54.
Newcomer Ryan Higgins struggled a bit shooting a 61 while his playing partner, Marlee Carayol, shot a 54. Seniors Kieran Brennan and Lucas Swenson played the par 31 lower course and shot 54 and 51, respectively. Dobbs Ferry only had four players at the match which results in an automatic forfeit of the match; as a result, the SH golf team improved its record to 7 and 6.
Golf vs. Woodlands
On Monday, April 30th the golf team faced Woodlands at Sunningdale Country Club. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was ideal for golf – sunny with a slight breeze. Jack Bender took full advantage of the ideal playing conditions by shooting even par, balancing one bogey with one birdie.
His playing partner, Jack Schnog, shot a 52 and showed steady improvement. Newcomer Ryan Higgins continued his good play shooting a 51 while his playing partner, Marlee Carayol, shot a 53. Thomas Pardo, playing in his first official match of the season, shot a 55 showing flashes of his potential. Sleepy Hollow won the match and improved its record to 6 and 6.
Sleepy Girls Lax
On Thursday, May 3rd the Birrittella sisters led their team into battle against the Eagles of Dobbs Ferry. Annelise controlled the score board as usual, providing Sleepy with yet another hat trick as well as several assists, while Alexis led the defense, set up several fast breaks and added a goal!
Unfortunately Sleepy lost. The final score 6-12, was not indicative of how the game was played. Aside from allowing a few quick goals in the final minutes of the game, the girls worked hard and played a consistent game. The girls are definitely picking up the pace as the season moves forward.
