Bill Currie, Gift of Life Board Member, honored by the Rachel Cooper Foundation.

Oliver from Belize will shortly have the procedure that is likely to cure him of his cardiac condition. Valhalla native Bill Currie has spent almost all of his adult life helping such children. He received an award this year at the Rachel Cooper Foundation Big Apple Circus.

During his years with Gift of Life, Rotarian, Bill Currie as a veteran with two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star volunteered to screen the children overseas. He was on his way to Iraq but had to make a detour to Jordan. Nothing seemed too daunting to Bill Currie.

Bill Currie has always given his all to this cause; moreover he is incredibly modest  about his contribution of time and energy.  “Each year, Rachel Cooper ‘honors’ someone who has been involved with helping children, primarily through heart surgery and this year it happens to be me,” he said.
