Bill To Give Greenburgh Incorporation Veto Power Fails To Come To Vote
The sponsor of the legislation vows to re-introduce it during the next session.

GREENBURGH, NY — The state legislature adjourned Wednesday without considering a proposed law have given the Town of Greenburgh veto power over an incorporation attempt by Edgemont residents. Supervisor Paul Feiner was in favor of the law, saying that residents could create a government based on emotions, not fully realizing their taxes will go up and services will go down.
Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, D-Mount Pleasant, sponsored the bill and said he will bring the issue back in the next legislative session, the Journal News said.
Petitions submitted by Edgemont residents asking to be incorporated as a village were deemed insufficient because there were not enough valid signatures, it wasn’t clear which properties would be part of the new village and the required list of regular Edgemont inhabitants was not complete.
