Bronx Man Arrested After Traffic Stop, Short Police Pursuit
He faces a range of charges including one felony.

GREENBURGH, NY — A Bronx resident was arrested on I-87 in the Town of Greenburgh after being stopped for speeding. State Police said Sandy Tejada, 18, of the Bronx, was pulled over around 9:38 p.m. Monday, April 16. As troopers approached his vehicle to speak with him, he sped away from them.
After a short pursuit, Tejada was taken into custody after his car became disabled.
Police said he intentionally damaged the trooper’s car. Minor injuries were reported.

Tejada was found to be in possession of about 5.44 grams of marijuana, police said.
He was taken to the Tarrytown barracks, where he was charged with the following:

- Resisting arrest, a misdemeanor
- Third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor
- Second-degree criminal mischief, a felony
- Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation
- Second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor
- Multiple vehicle and traffic violations
Tejada was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. No further information was available regarding bail or a return court date.
