Bronxville Volunteer Wins Education and Literacy Award
Tracy McVey of Bronxville wins Volunteer New York!'s Education and Literacy Award
Tracy McVey moved to Bronxville with her family after attending college in Ohio. Like so many people with young children, she spent her available time volunteering at her daughters’ school and on various PTA projects. As time went on and her three daughters aged, McVey came to an abrupt realization, “They simply didn’t need me the same way that they used to.” In order to fill the void in her time, McVey found Destination: College, a grass roots organization which deals with a variety of tasks ranging from after school tutoring and summer reading programs, to Regents, SAT and ACT exam preparations.
After years of devotion to this organization and for her outstanding community impact, McVey is being honored at Volunteer New York!’s 37th Annual Volunteer Spirit Awards breakfast benefit. The event will take place Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, NY from 8-10:00am.
