Brute on 9 Turns into The Tapp
Tappan Zee Bridge and tap beer: Broadway's Brute is now 'The Tapp' under new ownership with more food, the same staff, and a decor revamp coming soon.
Not many months ago, Patch reported on the , who had closed for a few weeks and reopened with a slightly warmer décor, hotdogs on the bar menu and a new copper pipe sign in the window.
Well, "just when you know what you got, it's gone," said general manager Jeremy McLellan of the recent changing of the guard from Brute's William Truiano to a crew of four (Patch will be talking to one of them tomorrow). McLellan however is still around, as are many of the staffmembers, and excited for the changes to come.

New owners brought a new name: The Tapp you'll notice has two 'p's which brings the Tappan Zee to tap. There's now a full menu of paninis, salads, and other things you can make in a tiny back kitchen.
On Friday night, I tried the house punch, which was a strong but delicious mix of bourbon and ginger and more. Equally strong was the "man salad" for the super-hungry healthy.

Ongoing are items like housemade hummus, deviled eggs "your way," pickled veggies. Paninis include grilled eggplant, Mexican BLT, salami and gouda. Salads are fresh and seasonal: wild strawberry and herb; fennel, red onion and orange.
Finally, there are the signature cocktails, which include tantalizing tipples like "Tappan Tea" with firefly sweet tea, vodka, Pimm's, housemade honey-lemon syrup and mint.
Customers are asking what's the skinny but happy to have their bar, the same but different. One newcomer looked so spiffy sitting in the window, I thought he was advertising the change with his wingtips and old timey hat.
The new venture will shutter for a month soon to really renovate; with this will come a new awning and more surprises.
