Greenburgh, NY — Motorists were stuck on the Sprain Brook Parkway for several hours because of a chemical spill Wednesday night.
A multi-vehicle crash occurred south of the Ardsley Road overpass and one of the vehicles spilled hydrochloric acid, which wasn’t cleaned up until 1:30 a.m., at which point the parkway was reopened, according to an article on the Journal News website.

Feiner said he is urging the state Department of Transportation, the New York State Police and state lawmakers to make the Sprain Parkway safer.
In a letter sent to the DOT commissioner and other officials, Feiner said that the state needs to install u-turn access on center medians on the parkway to avoid situations such as took place Wednesday night.
“What would have happened if a more dangerous hazardous chemical accident had taken place and motorists had to be evacuated from the parkway faster?” Feiner said.
