Chutney Masala Relocates to Main Street in Irvington
Sambal, a Thai/Malaysian Restaurant, will open at Chutney Masala's former Irvington location.

Chef Navjot Arora has announced the relocation of Chutney Masala Indian Bistro from its location west of the Metro North Irvington train station to Main Street in Irvington — it takes the space formerly occupied by StoneFire Pizza.
“We are renovating the old space and converting it into Sambal, a Thai/Malaysian restaurant,” Arora said.
Chutney Masala, in April, 2008, opened at its original location — a 150-year-old building that was once the storage warehouse for a lumber company. Tarik Currimbhoy designed the distinctive interior of the restaurant — resplendent with Victorian mirrors, hand-blown glass fixtures and and a majestic inlaid Indian tile bar.

Exposed brick walls and duct work, painted walls, wooden floors and emerald green banquettes contributed to the museum-like appearance of the restaurant. The walls depicted India's 19th-century British colonial era through historic photographs by Raja Deen Deval and related artwork from that period.
A new menu bows in for Chutney Masala. “There are some changes and tweaks in the menu but the most popular dishes have been carried forward,” Arora said.
