Controversial School Superintendent Ronald O. Ross Fired by Greenburgh Board of Ed

Ross has been the focus of discrimination lawsuits filed by several school staffers.

Embattled Greenburgh School Superintendent Ronald O. Ross has been fired by the Board of Education, reports The Journal News.

Ross has been the focus of discrimination lawsuits filed by several school staffers who claimed he allegedly fostered a hostile work environment, among other allegations. He has been on paid administrative leave for several months. Whether he will be paid any or all of the remaining money from his contract, which runs through 2017, is an open question, writes The Journal News’ Randi Weiner.

“At its meeting on Monday, September 22, 2014, the Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution in which the Board determined that there is good cause to discharge Ronald O. Ross and terminated the appointment of Mr. Ross as Superintendent of Schools and further terminated his Employment Agreement, effective September 22, 2014,”” the board wrote in a statement on the school district’s website. “The Board of Education will meet in the near future to discuss the search process for the hiring of the next Superintendent of Schools.”
