Cops: Boozed-Up Driver Strikes Trooper on Thanksgiving

A New York State Trooper investigating an accident on the Sprain Brook Parkway at 4:40 p.m. on Thanksgiving was struck by a driver who police allege was under the influence of alcohol.

Xhevalin Lala was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired as well as numerous vehicle and traffic law infractions. Police said Lala had a blood alcohol content of .06 percent.

The trooper sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Westchester Medical Center, Troop K officials said.
